Public Information Ethics Association

The legal basis for the activities of the self-management organization of public information producers and publishers - Association of Public Information Ethics - is the 2014 Act of the Seimas. November 25 an amendment to the Law on Public Information was adopted (entered into force on January 1, 2015). The Public Information Ethics Association was established in 2015. on January 27. Its founders are organizations uniting public information producers, broadcasters and journalists: the Union of Lithuanian Journalists, the Society of Lithuanian Journalists, the Internet Media Association, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Association, the Association of Regional Televisions, the Lithuanian Cable Television Association, the National Association of District and City Newspaper Publishers.

The Public Information Ethics Association aims to ensure compliance with professional ethics norms, fostering the principles of public information ethics in public information activities, and to develop public awareness in evaluating public information processes.

Association decisions in the field of public information ethics are made by the Public Information Ethics Commission, which consists of 7 representatives delegated by the founders (1 from each organization).
